Flights

New York City has three main airports:

  • JFK (JFK)

  • LaGuardia (LGA)

  • Newark (EWR)

JFK and LaGuardia are closest to Brooklyn, but Newark is not too much further. We recommend searching for flights at all three airports for flights that work best for you, your schedule, and your budget.

Ground Transportation

When you choose your airport, you’ll also want to consider how you get from the airport to your hotel.

Rideshare/Taxi will generally be the easiest and fastest option. At time of writing (March 2023), these are average Uber/Lyft ride durations and costs from each airport (taxi fares are similar). Durations and fares will be higher than average during rush hour.

  • JFK Airport to Brooklyn: ~40 minutes / ~$60

  • LaGuardia Airport to Brooklyn: ~30 minutes / ~$45

  • Newark Airport to Brooklyn: ~50 minutes / ~$75

Public transportation (train/subway/bus) is available from each airport, but will vary greatly in difficulty (transfers) and duration. Of the three airports, JFK has the easiest subway connection, via the AirTrain (more info here).
